Why do we need sunscreen?

Sunscreen might sound normal but not normal especially in the context of hot and wet like Cambodia. Sunscreen is a blockage that protect skin from ultraviolet (UV). The reason why we need to protect our skin from UV is because of the skin cancer, sunburn, skin damage, and premature cause by UV rays. This is why sunscreen is becoming a sensitive topic over skincare routine. Your skin is more likely easy to take care of if you acknowledge the usage of sunscreen. Because sunscreen acts as a shield on your surface skin which keeps your deeper skin safe.

How many types of sunscreen?

As we know there are a lot of sunscreens have been imported in many formulations to the market such as cream, gel, lotion, stick, and spray. You can choose any types of sunscreen which suit your skin type and preference. Most importantly, you have to make sure it causes no irritation because each sunscreen has unique ability to protect your skin from UV rays. Even though sunscreen seems to have many formulations but it only divided into 2 main types which are mineral/physical and chemical sunscreen.

-Mineral/Physical Sunscreen has main ingredients of titanium dioxide and zinc dioxide. It protects UV radiations by defend an deflect the rays before they reach your skin.

-Chemical Sunscreen has main ingredients of hhomosalate, avobenzone and octisalate. It protects UV by absorb UV radiations before they get to your skin.

Who should use sunscreen? How? When?

Men women and children above 6 months should use sunscreen before they go out in order to ensure that the skin is protected from UV rays. Normally, the amount of sunscreen formula is 1⁄4 of tablespoon. Simply put, you use two fingers of sunscreen for face. To activated sunscreen effectiveness, everyone should reapply sunscreen every 2-3 hours. Whether you go out or stay home, experts recommended to apply sunscreen daily because UV rays has the ability to penetrate your skin through light.
